SIMM research seminar #8 on participatory opera and music theatre projects:
The 8thSIMM research seminar is organized by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London), the Academic Chair Jonet / CESAMM (Ghent), and the research platform SIMM and will be focussing on participatory opera and music theatre projects.
Following the 1st such seminar on participatory opera and music theatre organised in June 2023 in Barcelona (see link here) this research seminar is planned to take place from 9 to 11 September 2024 at the Guildhall School in London.
The 8th research seminar will welcome a small group of 13 post-graduate students, early-career researchers as well as experienced researchers – who are all involved in ongoing research on participatory opera and music theatre programmes – to spend a 3-day seminar during which they will share their research experiences with each other:

  • Ana CORIC (Croatia) – University of Zagreb
  • Guy HARRIES (UK) – Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance
  • Andrés HOLGUIN (Colombia) – Canto por la Vida Foundation / Medellin Music Network
  • Borja JUAN-MORERA (Spain) – University of Zaragoza
  • Anna-Sophia KRAUS (Germany) – Munich
  • Claire PASQUIER (France) – Le Collectif Meute, Lille
  • Anna PIERARD (New Zealand) – Prima Volta Charitable Trust
  • Corinna VOGEL (Germany) – Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, Köln
Prof. Dr. An De bisschop (Chair Jonet / CESAMM, Ghent University, BE), Prof. Sean Gregory (Guildhall School) and Prof. Dr. Lukas Pairon (SIMM & Chair Jonet) will be the facilitators who will help the participants in sharing their experiences and ideas and research methodologies.
The scientific committee for this seminar is composed of: Brydie-Leigh Bartleet, An De bisschop, Lukas Pairon, John Sloboda, and Toby Young.
